Experiencing many challenges throughout our lives is something we all share and know, but living through a common hardship like the COVID-19 pandemic is new to us all. Our daily lives have fundamentally changed, having to stay and work from home and adapt to our new reality. In the face of this adversity, we consider ourselves fortunate as others face worse hardships.
While lots of companies worldwide are taking drastic measures to reduce cost through mass layoffs and salary cuts, here at Instabug we are extremely lucky to be able not only to support our team but also to expand in our hiring plans across all teams. Inspired by Cloudflare's example, we are especially excited to announce that this year’s Summer Internship Program is still in place and even bigger!
Our Summer Internships
One of the highly affected groups of people by the pandemic are the students and fresh graduates. Unfortunately, many are getting the bad news that the opportunities and job experiences they were counting on have been canceled. These internships are not only a huge part of these students' education but also help them to start their careers on the right foot.
The good news is that Instabug’s Summer Internship program is still on this year. We stand by our internship program and we are committed as ever to making each internship an unforgettable experience whether remote or in-person. So let’s go over the changes to this year’s program in light of the huge impact of everything going on.
Remote Workplace
Normally every year starting in April, we open up our internship admission process allowing students to start applying to their preferred positions. If they pass the screening process and the technical test, they are then invited to the office for a technical interview. Once all goes well, they are welcomed to join the team at the beginning of summer.
The main difference this time around is that the entire team is working from home; everything from the interview process to the actual internship will be conducted remotely. This ensures that we abide by the safety guidelines put in place to help us do our part in flattening the curve. While this might seem like an issue for others, Instabug is in the unique position of being able to perform all its functions while working from home and having all the necessary tools and technologies that will make it easy for our leadership team to communicate with and coach our new interns.
Double the size, Double the achievements
In 2016, we launched our first ever Instabug Internship Program; since then, it has grown and evolved in ways that we never imagined. When we started the first internship program for the summer of 2016, we received 40 applications, out of which only one intern made it through. The year after, in the summer of 2017, we received 365 internship applications. The number of applicants kept doubling in 2018 and 2019. Many of our interns ended up joining our ever-growing #BugSquad and now working on a full-time basis. For their full story check here.
“I found myself working on a real-life application, a product that has an impact and I was excited to be part of it. That’s where I decided to turn into a full-timer in case I had the opportunity to."
– Yazan, Intern 2018
Needless to say, we are very excited to set on this incredible journey once again this year with a fresh batch of interns and to see how this process continues to develop as the company expands. And we are excited to be doubling the size of our program with more teams accepting double the number of interns we had last year.
Here’s a list of the teams that we are hiring interns for and the link for their applications:
